Mr. Shahid Ahmed Khan, Board Member of New Hope Global, is a highly respected public service professional with more than 40 years of experience dedicated to promoting equality, community engagement, and social development. His extensive career within Birmingham City Council has equipped him with valuable knowledge in public administration, policy development, and community partnership building.
Mr. Khan began his career in the City Housing Department in the early 1970s and progressed through several responsible roles, including Principal Administrative Officer and Equality and Community Engagement Officer. In these positions, he worked closely with senior council officers, elected members, and community organisations to strengthen engagement with Birmingham’s diverse communities and ensure that public services reflected the needs of all residents.
Throughout his career, he has played an important role in supporting initiatives that promote social inclusion, community safety, and civic participation. His work has involved collaborating with statutory agencies, voluntary organisations, and community leaders to develop programmes that address disadvantage and strengthen partnerships across the city.
Mr. Khan also brings significant experience in community consultation, governance support, and public engagement, alongside over three decades of service in the electoral process as a Presiding Officer and Assistant Control Officer.
