The life and work of Dr. Mohammed Foiz Uddin, MBE represent more than four decades of dedicated service, leadership, and commitment to community development. Throughout his career, he has consistently worked to strengthen communities, support vulnerable groups, and build meaningful partnerships between institutions and the people they serve.
With over 41 years of professional experience, Dr. Uddin has contributed across several sectors, including banking, voluntary and charitable organisations, and local government. His work has particularly focused on supporting the Bangladeshi community in the United Kingdom, while also advocating for wider disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. His approach has always been guided by integrity, empathy, and a strong sense of public responsibility.
Dr. Uddin is widely respected for his thoughtful leadership and diplomatic approach to complex issues. His ability to engage diverse stakeholders and guide constructive dialogue has enabled him to deliver practical solutions that benefit communities and institutions alike.
Education has remained a key area of his contribution. Since 1985, he has served on the governing bodies of several schools in the West Midlands, including Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School, Perry Beeches Secondary School, and Stockland Green Secondary School, helping to strengthen governance and support educational leadership.
His professional career also includes over two decades of service at Birmingham City Council (1993–2014) as a Local Authority Officer, where he played an important role in initiatives supporting employment, youth development, and community engagement.
Today, as Chairman of New Hope, Dr. Uddin continues to provide strategic leadership, ensuring strong governance and supporting programmes that benefit vulnerable communities.
His service has been recognised with several honours, including the MBE in the 2012 New Year Honours for contributions to community cohesion. Dr. Uddin’s journey reflects the lasting impact of dedication, collaboration, and a lifelong commitment to public service.
