Mrs. Begum previously worked as a Support Worker in a psychiatric hospital, where she supported individuals experiencing mental health challenges. In this role, she provided both practical and emotional support, helping people build confidence, develop life skills, and work towards greater independence. Her approach is centred on compassion, patience, and respect, enabling her to build trusting relationships and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those she supports.
She has also worked closely with several external agencies, including the HM Prison and Probation Service and West Midlands Police, helping to coordinate support for individuals facing complex social challenges. Her work has focused on promoting stability, encouraging personal development, and helping individuals access education, training, and employment opportunities.
Earlier in her career, Mrs. Begum gained valuable leadership experience as a Supervisor at Boots UK, where she developed strong organisational and team management skills.
