Mental health awareness: Let's talk about it!

Mental health affects every single one of us, whether it’s stress, anxiety, depression, or just the everyday ups and downs of life. It’s important to remember that mental health is just as vital as physical health, and taking care of your mind is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Topic: Understanding Depression & Anxiety as well on learning the Coping Strategies

  •     Key differences between depression and anxiety, including emotional, cognitive and physical symptoms.

  •     How depression often relates to past struggles, while anxiety fixates on future uncertainties.

Participants shared personal experiences in a safe non-judgmental space, they explored misconceptions e.g. ‘Is anxiety just overthinking?  In addition, they looked at practical tools to cope and help manage stress and anxiety.

The lead Community Development Officer said, “Overall today's mental health session was successful and the facilitator from Birmingham Mind was very engaging and interactive approaching a difficult topic such as mental health session with ease and comfort, where servicers explored the differences between depression and anxiety, along with coping strategies”. Thank you to Birmingham Mind.

The session increased awareness, built coping skills, and reinforced the importance of seeking help when needed.  Participants left with clearer self-understanding and actionable tools.

A “Chai, Chat & Paint” workshop was a successful, relaxing and creative event where participants enjoyed drinks & engaged in casual conversation (chat), and explored their artistic side through painting. It provided an enjoyable and fun environment that encouraged socialising, creativity, and mindfulness, aimed to encourage beneficiaries to express themselves through art.
